Why Are You Here?

Why are you here? That was a question posed by my mentor in a workshop I took last month. We were given a sheet of blank paper and colored markers. The room grew quiet as the participants each chose their own spot on the carpet to ponder the question. A song softly played in the background on repeat that the lyrics talked about why we were born.

Michelle DeBergeI gathered my favorite colors and a spot on the floor of my own. I looked inside of my heart and thought about why I am here and what I want to create in my life. I have done this exercise many times over the past 16 years. Each time it is unique and new things come up for me.

To be able to put into abstract drawings one's life purpose is indeed a special sort of challenge. In fact, years ago just answering the question alone was the challenge.

Now, I am very clear on my life purpose and why I am here. I have designed my life around that and have been creating avenues so that I can achieve my life purpose.

I honestly believe that purpose is in our heart at the soul level. Our purpose lies in what touches our heart, brings us easily to tears and what we are drawn to do no matter what.

When your purpose is greater than who you are, you know you are on the right track. I continue every day to make steps towards mine because it is important to me.

Take some time for yourself and ask yourself: Why am I here? See what you come up with.
