You get out of bed, do your morning routine and get ready to work on that project. Then... crickets. You check your facebook, other social media and maybe make another cup of coffee. An hour has passed now. Still nothing.
It is not that you don't want to do the project or the item you had planned to, it is just that the inspiration that drives you to do it decided to take a vacation today. Now you are smart enough to know how to get motivated.
You take a walk in the sun, go to the gym, meditate, listen to a motivational podcast or even pull out your dream journal or vision board. Yet it feels like you are a robot working in fog. You are doing all of the right things but you can not seem to feel it. The excitement, motivation and inspiration.
Ok, next let us try to fake it until we make it. Maybe we chat with a friend and tell them all about what you are going to do with this project or to do item. You pretend that it is going so well and you are so excited about it. You put the phone down or stop the online chat, open up the projects and.... crickets.
Now over two hours have passed and nothing has really been accomplished so now the anxiety is starting to come because you are now not only not inspired but you are now behind schedule.
It feels like no matter what you do, you just do not feel inspiration and it makes you feel worse the harder you try.
My suggestion, STOP TRYING! (Remember Yoda said there is no trying, do it or don't do it.) The more you push the harder it gets. Walk away from the project and go do something else.
I know I have been there. It is like walking through mud. By the end of the day nothing really gets accomplished so you feel even worse. Days like this, it is best to go do something else. In most cases, you will be inspired tomorrow and the project will flow and you will complete it much quicker than if you keep pushing today when it is not working for you.
Often we are afraid to take a break because we won't be productive. When our minds slow down and we feel like we are working in a fog, it is a great reminder to take care of ourselves and go feed the mind something else. Often we ignore the messages the bodies give us. We fight sleep, we forget to eat, don't hydrate enough and often overwork until we just are not inspired! Take a break, start over tomorrow.
