It is about the journey

For me it is more about the beautiful journey than the destination. I find the more I stay present and in the moment, the more magic there is in my life. In the past I used to rush through life charging towards a set destination. Some times by the time I got to the destination it did not look as I had imagined and I would be frustrated and disappointed.

This does not mean I don’t have goals or things I want to accomplish, I do. It just means that I am present in every moment of my day and with everyone who I encounter on the way. I stop and actively listen. I connect with vulnerability and my heart. I am open to learning new ways of doing things or of being.

By not being set on a specific outcome but rather a soft vision of what I desire, I don’t have attachments to the steps along the way. I have learned that most of my journeys towards specific outcomes are not in a straight line but rather a curved road. I have also learned that along the way I get blessed with things that I would have never imagined and might have missed them if I was not present.

I have also noticed by staying in gratitude, openness and being present that there is so much more ease and joy in my life every day. Things get done, goals get met and unexpected joys appear. I remember learning about mindfulness many years ago. I remember thinking that mindfulness and meditation just sounded boring and like a waste of time. I wonder how different my past would have been had I embraced the practice then.
