Has honesty become elusive? Lately I have been feeling that I live in a world of illusions. People trying to hide who they really are and what their agendas are. Information coming in that is not real and not based on facts. Glossy statements of prosperity and wealth that are really only scams. Worst of all is watching people believe the illusions themselves and creating an illusion so that they can match it and be part of it.
Sounds insane, right? That honesty has become elusive…
Think about how you spend your time and who you spend it with. I watch people trying to impress folks with their self created illusions and they work so hard to get others to buy into it. The best place to see this is in social media and the news. Everyone so afraid to not be good enough or smart enough, rich enough or pretty enough. We add filters, photo shop, glamorize and create fake images for the world to buy into so that we can hide behind the image and …. we feel alone, not connected, bad about ourselves and frustrated.
When was the last time you had a real conversation with out any fake pretense? Really told someone what you were feeling, dealing with or dreaming of?
I have prided myself for walking my talk and being transparent. Yet in being that way, I often talk about my dreams. My dreams are big, they grow every time I achieve one! Yet so many times I have been told that I make stuff up, I have an active imagination or that I am just crazy. I do have an active creative imagination and it allows me to see beyond the illusions and believe in myself to achieve my dreams. I am crazy to live live honestly without illusion because I don't fit in all the time.
What if, just for a day, you could just be all of you and it would be fully excepted and greeted with love? What if you could really share what is in your heart, your mind and in your dreams? Would that feel like freedom?
What if you were given permission to honestly share your thoughts? Would that be empowering?
To have true connection with others you need to have honesty and that creates love. Without one there is no other. So why would honesty become so elusive for most?
